How Do You Get To Clear Lake

Those of you who go to Clear Lake...How do you get there? Last year when we went, we just followed my GPS. It took us through Napa and Calistoga. It took forever! On the way back we went west on 175, then took 101 south, it was better. I wanted to ask you guys which way you guys take.
I go up through Napa. Takes me 3 hours to get to Redbud. Not recommended though if you're hauling a boat. There's a curvy uphill climb about a half hour before reaching the lake.

I guess if you were going to Lakeport it might make sense to take 101, but then you'd have to drive through San Francisco. I personally hate driving in the City.

Another route is going up 80 - 505 - 5 - 20. Takes you to the East side of the lake if you want to fish/launch out of Clearlake Oaks.
My favorite rout is 680 to 80 to 505 to 16 to the 20. Towing is no problem the 16 will save you sometime!
Thanks, Steve and Jason. I appreciate the info.
From Mtn View
go 680 to 12 to 29 (thru napa)
over the hill which is curvy but very doable with a boat
takes me about 3:15ish

Thanks, gkoury. It took us alot longer than 3:15. I think it was more like 4.5-5 hrs. Maybe it was just a bad day.
